J. BAPTISM AND THE LORD’S SUPPER
We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion in water of a believer in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, with the authority of the local church to show forth in a solemn and beautiful emblem our faith in the crucified, buried and risen Saviour Jesus Christ, portraying our death to sin and resurrection to a new life; and that it is a pre-requisite to the privileges of church membership and the Lord’s Supper.
(Acts 2:41, 42; 16:30-33.)
We believe that in the Lord’s Supper the members and only the members of the local church by the sacred use of bread and the cup containing the fruit of the vine, are to commemorate together the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for us; and preceded always by solemn self-examination.
(1 Cor 11:23-30.)
